Description

Ajar is a menu bar automation tool for Apple Silicon Macs.

That synchronously adjusts display brightness, keyboard backlight, and system volume based on the MacBook’s hinge angle. Users simply drag a control point to shape the curve from when the lid is closed to when it’s fully open. Ajar After manually adjusting any value, the software treats the current setting as the new preference for that angle and continues to smoothly adjust accordingly. It also offers intelligent anti-sleep capabilities based on actual working status, using lifecycle hooks to identify the start and end of tasks in Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Gemini CLI, Ajar keeping the Mac awake while the intelligent agent is running and resuming normal sleep after the task ends. Custom rules support combinations of six conditions: lid angle, application, process, Wi-Fi, disk, and power, suitable for ensuring uninterrupted Final Cut rendering, Xcode building, ffmpeg encoding, rsync synchronization, external disk tasks, and long-term computing. The status interface centrally displays hinge angle, synchronization output, wake-up status, and cumulative usage data, while the menu bar allows for quick pause functions or setting time-limited wake-up settings. The software supports Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15 and later. The hinge-based wake-up rule is only applicable to MacBooks, while other wake-up rules can also be used on desktop Macs.
