BetterStage
Information
Description
BetterStage is a native workspace manager designed for macOS, as the first AI-powered window and workspace management tool.
Which can intelligently analyze all windows opened by users and automatically group them into project-centric stages by checking window titles, URLs, and file paths. Users can create multiple named stages, each spanning all connected displays, enabling instant switching across the entire multi-monitor setup, all in 16 milliseconds without any animation delay or stuttering. BetterStage integrates AI staging, multi-monitor stages, instant switching, Bento Box automatic BSP tiling, Snap Wheel radial menu, custom shortcut keys, and monitor pinning to help users say goodbye to the tedious task of manually organizing windows. AI Staging automatically plans window layouts based on project context such as development, design, and communication with a single click, and intelligently assigns each window to the appropriate screen based on the arrangement of physical displays, and users only need to provide their own OpenAI, Claude, or other compatible API keys to use. Bento Box tiling adopts a binary space partitioning algorithm to automatically arrange windows into a clean adaptive grid, and the layout will be dynamically adjusted when windows are opened or closed, supporting all windows to get equal screen space in full tiling mode, and maximizing mode where active windows take center stage while other windows shrink but remain visible and accessible, avoiding the trade-off of traditional tiling managers that can only be fully tiled or forced to full screen. The Snap Wheel invokes radial menus with the middle button or custom trigger, the inner ring provides quick snapping of biparts and quadruples, the outer ring sector provides full-screen, third, send to stage, re-tiling and other operations, and hover sectors to expand submenus. All operations support fully configurable keyboard shortcuts, such as Opt+1 to Opt+9 switching phase, Control+Option+arrow bisecting, Option+Down arrow retiling, etc. Users can also pin windows on specific monitors, such as Slack, so that they remain the same when switching stages while other screen content is updated synchronously. BetterStage can easily run on macOS 14 Sonoma and later with a single accessibility permission that requires only one installation and granting a single accessibility permission, no SIP disablement, no profile, and no additional monitoring permissions. It is developed natively in Swift and AppKit, BetterStage with extremely low resource usage and less than 1% CPU when idle, making it perfectly suitable for multi-monitor users, allowing each window to return to its project context, and seamlessly switching between different work scenarios BetterStage with a single keystroke, greatly improving productivity and concentration.
