CaptionSnap is a native meeting captioning transcription tool for macOS.

That can read live captions displayed in Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, saving the complete content as a permanent Markdown transcript with the real speaker’s name and timestamp. The software does not record audio, access the microphone, process audio, join the meeting, or upload data to the cloud; all files are saved on the user’s own Mac, requiring no account registration or subscription. Even when the meeting window is behind other applications, it can continuously capture captions in the background with less than 1% CPU usage, making it suitable for long meetings and everyday office work. CaptionSnap supports desktop and browser-based meeting scenarios, generates meeting summaries on the device via Apple Intelligence, and provides features such as PDF and DOCX export and a meeting notes workspace. Only one macOS accessibility permission is required during installation; screen recording, camera, or microphone permissions are not needed. The generated text is searchable, organized, shared, and permanently stored, making it suitable for individuals and teams who value privacy, require accurate speaker information, and want to avoid cloud-based meeting bots and monthly subscriptions.
