FilePane

FilePane is a drag-and-drop file management and content processing tool for macOS.

By recognizing content types such as files, folders, images, text, audio, video, and PDFs, it automatically provides matching shortcuts, eliminating the need to switch between multiple applications for moving, copying, editing, converting, and sharing. Users can directly drag items into a clean panel to quickly crop, rotate, scale, compress, and annotate images, and convert between formats such as PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, and PDF. For audio and video content, it can also trim, split, and clean up metadata. The software supports setting frequently used directories as favorites, organizing the desktop and scattered files with fewer steps, and can also copy file sizes or paths to the clipboard. The text tool can count the words and characters of selected content, convert TXT, RTF, and images to PDF, and create folders, text, Excel, or Word documents as needed. FilePane 2.0 features a redesigned interface with options for light, dark, or system-appropriate colors, balancing efficiency and visual consistency. It also allows for freehand drawing to annotate images and screenshots, sharing content via email, AirDrop, and setting and saving desktop wallpapers. The software is compatible with macOS 13 and later, and macOS Tahoe, and the developers state that they do not track users’ download, save, convert, or file management activities.
