Hingely is a fun visual effects tool designed for MacBooks equipped with hinge angle sensors.

It monitors the opening and closing of the laptop lid in real time and transforms this everyday action into a smooth and impactful screen animation experience. Users can choose from ten carefully designed effects, such as folding and deformation, water ripples, gravity fall, shattering splashes, and glitch flashing. Hingely The animation responds instantly to the actual hinge angle, rather than simply playing pre-recorded fixed clips. The application resides quietly in the menu bar and automatically takes effect when the lid is opened, requiring no cumbersome configuration process and making it extremely easy to use. It only runs on compatible models, including 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros released in 2021 and later, and MacBook Airs with M2 or later chips, requiring macOS 15 or later. It explicitly does not support earlier 2020 M1 MacBook Air models and 13-inch M1/M2 MacBook Pros. Hingely temporarily captures a screenshot as animation material when generating effects; this snapshot is not saved and disappears immediately after the effect finishes playing, effectively ensuring privacy and security. Users can also pause the effects at any time via the menu bar, temporarily turning them off when a quiet environment is needed without having to exit the application, making every time you close the lid a personalized fun and visual surprise.
