MicrophoneSelector is a lightweight menu bar microphone management tool for macOS users.

It doesn’t display an icon in the Dock or require opening a main window, allowing users to quickly view and switch all available audio input devices directly from the menu bar. Left-clicking the menu bar icon and selecting the target device immediately sets it as the default microphone for macOS, eliminating the need to repeatedly navigate to system settings. MicrophoneSelector Global keyboard shortcuts allow for quick mute or unmute functionality in any application. The software automatically updates the device list, displaying or removing newly connected or removed microphones and marking the currently used device. For input devices that support macOS system-level mute, menu bar actions and shortcuts directly control the mute status; some Bluetooth headsets and similar devices may not offer this capability. Microphone Selector also supports automatic startup upon login, and all functions run locally without recording, saving, or transferring personal data, making it suitable for users who frequently switch microphones, conduct online meetings, live streams, record audio, and collaborate remotely. The software supports macOS 13 and later and offers English and German interfaces.
