Mote

Mote is a native floating Markdown workspace for macOS.

It opens a lightweight window above all applications via keyboard shortcuts, allowing for quick note-taking, terminal commands, web browsing, and meeting content processing. It supports WYSIWYG Markdown rendering, with headings, bold text, code, checkboxes, and mathematical expressions rendered directly during input. It offers Vim mode, pure Markdown pasting, and multiple themes. Mote also integrates YouTube learning notes, local microphone and system audio transcription, speaker tagging, Obsidian library reading and writing, webpage highlighting and clipping, clipboard collection, regular reviews, and AI-powered collaboration with Claude Code. Notes and transcriptions are saved locally on your Mac, maintaining user-controlled Markdown format, independent of the cloud, accounts, or meeting bots. Built with Swift and AppKit, it’s compatible with macOS 15 and above, offering fast startup and low resource consumption, making it ideal for users who need to quickly switch between reading, meetings, writing, and development.
