Description

PaceBreak is an eye-rest reminder tool that runs in the macOS menu bar.

It helps users reduce eye dryness, eye strain, and headaches caused by prolonged screen time by adhering to the 20/20 rule. After every 20 minutes of continuous screen use, a gentle animated overlay appears, guiding the user to look away for about 20 feet and hold that view for 20 seconds, allowing them to continue working after a short break. PaceBreak A real-time timer in the menu bar makes it easy to check for the next reminder and allows for one-click pausing, delaying by an hour, or skipping to the next day. Users can set work dates and times according to their own schedules, ensuring reminders only run during actual work hours to avoid interruptions at night and on weekends. PaceBreak can also recognize video calls and media playback, automatically pausing the timer when using applications like Zoom, Teams, and Meet for meetings, presentations, or watching videos, and resuming the eye-rest rhythm afterward. The application is ready to use after installation, requiring no account registration or login, and adheres to a privacy-first principle by not tracking user activity. Its simple and quiet interaction method balances health reminders with work focus, making it suitable for programmers, designers, writers, and other people who use Macs for extended periods. It requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
