Seam

Seam is a desktop productivity tool that brings a dynamic island-style interface to Mac.

It centralizes music controls, schedule reminders, focus timers, and speech-to-text functionality at the top of the screen, allowing users to quickly view information and perform tasks while working, reducing interruptions from frequent application switching. The software supports play/pause, track switching, viewing currently playing content, and allows users to select the audio output device within the player or jump to the currently playing browser tab. It features built-in speech-to-text and translation capabilities, with all processing done locally, requiring no internet connection and not collecting user data; voice, files, and schedule information remain on the Mac. Users can enable features as needed and adjust details such as track display during pause, song title scrolling, and track skipping animations. In addition to the MacBook with its notch, Seam also adapts to iMacs, Mac minis, and connected displays and external monitors via a floating island mode. The software operates on an event-triggered model, maintaining low resource consumption when idle, making it suitable for Mac users who want to integrate frequently used tools, stay informed about their desktop status, and value local privacy.
