Smolpad

Smolpad is a lightweight Markdown note-taking application for macOS, iPhone, and iPad.

It saves each note as a plain .md file that can be opened directly by other editors, without relying on a dedicated database or locking content into a closed format. Smolpad The application syncs data via the user’s iCloud Drive and supports Dropbox, allowing continuous editing of the same text across multiple devices; the note directory can also be opened at any time from Finder or the Files app. The editor offers headings, bold, italics, quotes, code, separators, and interactive task checkboxes, allowing users to weaken or completely hide Markdown marks as needed, and includes a formatting toolbar and full keyboard shortcuts. Smolpad Users can drag and paste images, adjust their display size, and save and sync images as separate files with the notes. Folders, pinning, custom sorting, tag filtering, instant search, and heading outlines are suitable for managing ever-growing amounts of data. The Mac version is permanently displayed in the menu bar and can be quickly accessed with keyboard shortcuts, or notes can be split into separate windows; multiple fonts, twenty-seven editing themes, and different application and menu bar icons provide a rich visual selection. The application emphasizes local file control and privacy, and the developers state that it will not collect user data.
