Speedup

Speedup is a local screen recording and video acceleration tool designed specifically for macOS.

It’s suitable for handling longer screen recordings such as programming demonstrations, drawing, music production, design workflows, and makeup tutorials. Users simply drag and drop videos in MP4, MOV, or M4V format into the application for immediate playback, without importing or creating project files. Users can drag and select unimportant or slow-paced segments via the timeline and set playback speeds of 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x for different sections. Speedup automatically mutes and accelerates segments to prevent audio distortion. The application supports trimming the beginning and end of videos and exporting them as a single, clean MP4 file at full resolution for easy sharing to YouTube, LinkedIn, and other platforms. All processing is done locally on the Mac; the recording is not uploaded, the software does not perform telemetry or tracking, and does not modify or overwrite the original file. Instead, the new video is saved next to the original file. The application is Apple Developer ID signed and certified, supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later, and is suitable for users who value privacy, efficiency, and streamlined workflows.
