Spyglass

Pressing the spacebar in Finder allows you to view the structure and content of files such as Markdown, source code, notebooks, databases, archives, and applications. Markdown supports tables, task lists, mathematical formulas, and Mermaid charts. Code previews offer syntax highlighting and line numbers, and can recognize scripts without extensions. Spyglass The software can format JSON, display Jupyter notebook output, show code differences by file, view SQLite tables and views, and sort and browse TSV and JSON Lines data. Archives can be viewed without unzipping, and applications and binaries can display version, signature, architecture, and other information. Google Drive files support displaying titles and owner cards; the Drive scheme can also present documents, tables, presentations, and drawings in read-only mode and generate Finder thumbnails. Various previews can be independently toggled, supporting brightness and darkness effects, code font size adjustments, and automatic refresh after saving. Local format previews are performed on the Mac without uploading files; Google Drive content previews read content from the user’s cloud drive.
