Tacque

Tacque is a sound effects software that makes your Mac keyboard sound like a mechanical keyboard.

Every keystroke is accompanied by a crisp, mechanical click, making the typing feel natural whether you’re writing, coding, browsing the web, or chatting. The software includes multiple hand-tuned sound packs, ranging from soft, resonant muffles to sharp, crisp clicks. Different sounds are used for regular letter keys, spacebar, enter, backspace, and modifier keys to avoid all keys sounding identical. Each key has a subtle and consistent pitch, remaining consistent for the same key while slightly varying between different keys. Stereo positioning places left and right-side keys in corresponding positions within the sound field, adding depth to the keyboard. Tacque You can toggle sound effects on/off and adjust volume at any time via the menu bar. The pop-up panel allows you to preview the current sound pack simply by typing; the real-time waveform fluctuates with each keystroke. Tacque also allows importing custom sound packs from local Mac files or web links and supports popular community sound formats, facilitating further exploration of various switch sounds. The software can automatically pause keyboard sounds when the microphone is in use, or when music and videos start playing, reducing interference with calls, meetings, and multimedia content. It runs as a standalone application, currently at version 1.2, with an installation package size of approximately 28.1MB, and requires macOS 15.0 or later.
