Tokens 4 Breakfast is a macOS menu bar application aimed at developers and heavy AI tool users.

Used locally to track token usage, API consumption, subscription items, and rate limit pressure on platforms such as Claude Code, Claude Web, OpenAI, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, and OpenRouter. It aggregates AI expenses scattered across different web pages, consoles, and billing pages into a single permanent menu bar view, displaying monthly expenses, seven-day trends, thirty-day forecasts, session budgets, and upcoming limit risk in real time. The application is designed locally, requiring no login, relying on cloud services, and not tracking. Data is stored in the Mac’s native SQLite database and can work offline; Claude Code and GitHub Copilot can read local configurations or session files and automatically connect, while other platforms can access via API Keys. For users who frequently switch models, run proxy tasks, or use multiple AI services simultaneously, it can proactively alert users of over-budget, speed limits, and implicit subscription drift, reducing unexpected month-end bills and work interruptions.
