Unfold

Unfold is a Quick Look extension designed for macOS that allows users to quickly preview almost any file type.

Including folders, compressed files, syntax highlighted source code, formatted Markdown documents, Mermaid charts, e-books, and more, in the system’s native Quick Look interface. Unfold allows you to preview instantly in Spotlight, Finder, and third-party file managers without opening additional Finder windows or dedicated apps, greatly improving your daily file browsing efficiency. Unfold supports previews of folders and multiple file formats, and provides three layout methods: native, grid, and list, allowing users to clearly view the internal structure and content. For source code files, Unfold has built-in syntax highlighting, supports adjusting font size, toggling line number display, and selecting copy text, making it easy for developers to quickly check configuration files, project assets, and source code in various programming languages. Markdown preview renders notes, READMEs, and drafts into formatted views, including directory navigation and Mermaid chart support. Mermaid charts can be directly rendered into visual graphics, supporting zoom and panning operations, avoiding the inconvenience of viewing the original syntax. The eBook and Comic Archive preview supports catalog browsing as well as CBR and CBZ formats, allowing users to quickly flip through the content without having to launch a dedicated reader. With a total of 146 file extensions, covering a variety of categories such as archives, source code, data files, configuration and point files, build project files, and diagrams, Unfold is a lightweight, localized, and privacy-focused macOS tool that fits perfectly with macOS 14 Sonoma and later, helping users efficiently manage various files without disrupting workflow.
