WhatPort
Information

Description
WhatPort is a USB-C and Thunderbolt port status monitoring tool for macOS.
It allows you to view connected devices, actual negotiation speeds, channel status, and power supply data reported by your Mac in the menu bar or a separate window, helping to troubleshoot issues such as slow external hard drive connections, abnormal charging, and intermittent docking station disconnections. The software uses color to distinguish between Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, USB, and charging connections, and supports viewing Thunderbolt link generation, display resolution, cable type, charger information, and voltage and current, presenting power changes as a real-time curve. WhatPort Charging status is differentiated based on system information, including charging, full charge, or battery health protection. Supported models can also display liquid detection warnings. The Pro version provides cross-reboot retention of connection and power event history, device tree, port health score, anomaly alerts, and CSV and JSON session export for easy tracking of intermittent faults. WhatPort supports macOS 14 and later, providing more complete readings on Apple Silicon Macs, while some details are limited on Intel Macs. The software does not require root privileges, does not change connection configurations, and retains port data and records on the local machine; the displayed negotiation rate is not equivalent to the actual file transfer speed.
