Description

PeakHour is a serious network monitor for macOS.

Built for everyone from the curious to the network engineer. Watch your connection, your router, and the devices on your network — all in real time.

Slow Zoom call? AI agent crawling through a task? Bandwidth hog at large? Wondering what your ISP is actually delivering? PeakHour shows you exactly what’s happening on your network, the moment it’s happening.

KEY FEATURES

• AI Network Advisor
On-device intelligence grades your connection with a letter score and explains what’s going on in plain English. Powered by Apple Intelligence, private by default.

• Internet Dashboard
A complete real-time view of your network path, from your Mac to your router, ISP, and the wider internet. Latency, throughput, and connection health at a single glance.

• Wi-Fi Intelligence
See how good your Wi-Fi really is, wherever you are. PeakHour shows you when your signal is weak, when interference is slowing you down, and where in the house your Mac connects best — so you can stop guessing why video calls drop or downloads stall.

• Bandwidth & Latency Monitors
Dedicated real-time monitors for any UPnP- or SNMP-capable device on your network — routers, switches, NAS, and more — each with live sparkline charts. Watch traffic patterns develop second by second.

• Monitor Other Macs with PeakHour Enabler
Keep an eye on the family iMac or the office Mac mini. PeakHour Enabler, our free, open-source companion, makes any Mac a monitorable target in two clicks, and PeakHour picks it up automatically.

• Speed Test + Responsiveness
Integrated speed tests pair classic download and upload numbers with the modern Responsiveness Per Minute (RPM) score, so you know your network feels fast, not just fast on paper.

• Always in Your Menu Bar
Live bandwidth, latency, and status right in your macOS menu bar, with a glanceable dropdown dashboard one click away.

• Instant Notifications
Know the second your connection drops, and the second it comes back. Outage and recovery alerts powered by a self-healing probe engine.

• ISP & Router Inspection
Deep visibility into your ISP — public IP, network operator, and geolocation — and your router’s hardware, uptime, and live traffic counters. All without opening another app.

• History Charts
Scrollable bandwidth and latency history with side-by-side download/upload views and color-coded congestion. Spot patterns over hours, days, or weeks.

• Customize Everything
Polling intervals, alert thresholds, menu bar layout, notification rules, monitor cards. Make PeakHour fit how you work.

NEW IN PEAKHOUR 6.1

• PeakHour Advisor in its own window: your grade, checks for calls, gaming and streaming, and the one fix that matters
• A path diagram that shows where a slowdown starts, and each site’s route on a map
• History with your grade every 30 seconds and a log of every speed test
• Speed Test results compared with your Internet plan
• This Mac, Router and ISP cards on the dashboard
• Latency monitors for just the part of the path you choose, or for AI services such as Claude and ChatGPT

What's New

PeakHour 6.1 gives the Advisor a window of its own, and shows you exactly where a slowdown starts. • PeakHour Advisor has its own window with five pages: Your Network, The Internet, Speed Test, History and Report. Open it from the grade, the menu bar, or Window > PeakHour Advisor (⌥⌘A). • Your Network leads with your grade, a plain-English summary and checks for video calls, gaming, streaming and remote desktop. It also shows what your speeds make possible, from video quality to the time a large download takes. • A path diagram shows This Mac, your router, your ISP and the internet, with the latency of each link and where a problem starts. • The Internet puts each site on a map, with its route hop by hop. • History keeps your grade every 30 seconds, even while the window is closed, plus a log of your speed tests, with filters and CSV export. • On macOS 27, turn on Private Cloud Compute to ask the Advisor questions about your network. • The Network Quality test is now called Speed Test. Enter your plan in Settings > Dashboard > Internet Plan, and each test shows the share of your plan you get, and what limits it. • New This Mac, Router and ISP cards: hover over a column on the dashboard, then click to open its details. • New latency monitors start with a choice: ISP to Internet, One Host or Custom. A picture shows the part of the path each one measures, and the site list now includes AI services such as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. • Also new: optional Wi-Fi alerts, your own colors for each bandwidth monitor, graphs shared from the main window with a title, legend and scale, and Last 7 Days now includes today. • Turning off the Internet Dashboard now asks whether to remove its monitors. • With an Annual Pass or a free trial, you can now buy the Lifetime License from Settings > About. Thank you for all your feedback on PeakHour 6. Keep it coming, and happy monitoring!
