SaneHosts is a local hosts file protection tool for macOS.

It blocks known ads. trackers, telemetry domains, malicious sites, and distracting content through system-level hosts rules, providing unified protection for Safari, Chrome, Slack, gaming, and other applications. It stores hosts data locally, without relying on VPN, cloud accounts, or browser extensions, making it ideal for Mac users who value privacy and transparency. The software includes multiple one-click protection levels, expanding from basic ad tracking and blocking to home security, focus mode, privacy protection, and more aggressive full blocking, supporting curated rules from sources like StevenBlack, Hagezi, and AdGuard. Users can create multiple configuration files, import local files or URLs, and merge, copy, and batch manage entries; Each time you enable or switch configurations, the DNS cache is automatically refreshed, and system hosts files are modified via macOS Touch ID or password authorization, while backups are kept for rollback.
