NoteLess

NoteLess is a minimalist card-based note-taking tool for macOS.

Each note is confined to a fixed-size cream-colored card. If content exceeds the visible boundaries, it will refuse further input and alert users by shaking the window, encouraging them to compress their thoughts and retain the key points. NoteLess Users can quickly bring up the floating card by pressing a keyboard shortcut in any application, without switching work environments. Notes can be taken using keyboard operations such as save, discard, and pin. Unpinned cards automatically expire after seven days, while important content is retained long-term, keeping the note library lightweight. Holding down the Option key allows for on-device voice dictation, ensuring audio remains on your Mac while maintaining both input efficiency and privacy. The application can also switch to a thumbnail wall within the same window for centralized browsing, selection, pinning, or deletion of all cards. The Baskerville font, warm ink, and cream-colored paper create a quiet and visually appealing reading experience, and cards can be recalled and their positions refreshed. NoteLess does not display the Dock icon by default, runs as a hideable status bar item, does not require an account, does not include a tracking mechanism, and supports in-place automatic updates via Sparkle, making it suitable for ad-hoc tasks, short inspirations, shopping lists, and scattered information that needs to be captured quickly.
